A “DAY IN THE LIFE” OF OUR TODDLER CLASSROOMS

In our bustling and sometimes quirky, blended toddler program your kiddo will begin becoming accustomed to a kind of consistency that affords them some choices and control. It is during this stage of development that children begin to fully realize and experience what it means to be in a group environment and we believe it’s extremely important to nurture their want to be an active member of this micro-culture. This program consists of three classrooms each of which operate with time for individual interaction, small group time, and community activities. This allows staff to provide every child the opportunity to advance their critical thinking skills, capacity for compassion, ability to connect, and willingness to participate in a well-rounded fashion. Our toddlers spend their days engaged and immersed in hands-on learning and play to cultivate their understanding of themselves, their friends, families, and the world.

Throughout the day, our toddler & two’s friends will experience:

Self-Help Skills

As toddlers grow, their sense of independence, determination, and certainty in their abilities advances profoundly. We aim to provide loving instruction and support in all aspects of their development but some of the skills first introduced to this age group may include hygienic habits like hand-washing, general social etiquette, eating without assistance, dressing independently, mobility, etc., all of which further lend to their social/emotional, large motor, and fine motor development.

Play, Play, Play!

Here at Giggly Hugs, our programs operate as constructivist classrooms. this means that we feel passionately that play-based learning promotes growth through pleasant interactions amongst peers and with teachers, as well as nurturing their confidence in independent settings. it is our mission to take the interests of each child and turn those into a meaningful and engaging learning experience. With seemingly random materials which we call loose parts, as well as many traditional toys and such every child is encouraged to explore, create, and question ideas and systems as they freely and inquisitively use what we have provided and their imaginations to investigate everything around them.  Einstein said it best, “Play is the highest form of research.”

Playground Time

Each day, weather permitting, children get to experience the great outdoors via our beautiful and very large outdoor space! It is here that every toddler is able to relieve some of their endless energy and totally let loose! Our staff provide exhilarating outdoor fun and do this by planning an optional outdoor game or activity for children to participate in as they’d like for at least half of the allotted which may differ slightly based on the season. During the summer, all children are always thrilled to participate in our twice weekly water days.
